This worksheet is a shape-sorting activity designed to help children identify and categorize different shapes: diamonds, stars, and hearts. The instructions encourage children to cut out the shapes at the bottom of the page and paste them into the correct column according to the shape shown at the top of each column.
There are three columns with pictures at the top to indicate what goes into each column:
- First column (diamond): Meant for shapes resembling diamonds.
- Second column (star): Meant for shapes resembling stars.
- Third column (heart): Meant for heart-shaped images.
Cut-out Shapes:
The bottom section contains a variety of shapes within dashed lines. These are to be cut out and sorted into the correct columns:
- 3 diamond shapes (green, purple, and pink).
- 3 heart shapes (blue, green, and purple).
- 2 star shapes (yellow and pale yellow).
Purpose:
- Shape recognition: Helps children distinguish between different geometric shapes.
- Fine motor skills: Cutting and pasting improves coordination and precision in using scissors and glue.
- Categorization skills: Sorting the shapes into their correct categories reinforces logical thinking and classification skills.
This activity is suitable for preschool or early elementary-aged children as a fun way to practice shape recognition and motor skills.
